09/12 – I’m going to try my best to make posting a daily event, but this week’s going to be trying. I’ll be working an average of ten hours a day for the next six days, and it’s going to hurt. I’m no stranger to hard work, but the prospect of the next week had me dreaming about work last night. It was one of those nights where all I did was dream, so I woke up beat. Not a huge deal, but it doesn’t help.
When I was in the Army, my Regiment went on a Winter Warfare course- learn how to fight in snow, survive in the cold, all that stuff. It was in Petawawa, Ontario. You know how Disneyland is the happiest place on Earth? Petawawa’s the coldest. The cold wasn’t the point to me, though; it was the lack of sleep. For five days and nights of blistering cold, I got maybe, maybe, two hours worth of sleep. By the end of it, I was hallucinating. I was guarding a bridge with another guy and started yelling at people crossing the bridge to stop and put their hands up, and pointing a (blank-loaded) rifle- all part of the excercise, I thought. My buddy took off running- he thought I’d gone nuts.
Anyway, long story short, my troopies and I passed the excercise, we qualified at Winter Warfare, and I slept for two days when I got home.
So now, I’m not too worried about getting through the next six days. Just hope by Saturday I’m not talking to imaginary clients.
